Job Description Summary: Position Overview
Because of a strategic commitment, Goodrich Corporation has initiated the creation of an Electronic Systems Center (ESC) headquartered in scenic Phoenix, AZ. The ESC will support a wide variety of Goodrich aerospace products with state-of-the-art facilities and expertise. The ESC team will design, test, build, and support electronic components and systems for all parts of the Enterprise. As a systems engineer you will be working in a focused, cross-functional team of engineers developing avionics products.
Primary Responsibilities
Execution of Engineering Projects:
- Performs Joint Development of new Aircraft Systems with existing and new customers with a heavy focus on up-front system architecture definition considering certification requirements, system safety assessments and fault trees.
- Establishes systems and sub-system design requirements traceability, flow down requirements, develop and test.
- Develops complex sub-system trade studies, algorithms and error budgets.
- Drives the usage of appropriate Lean Product Development tools to support cost-effective technical solutions with heavy focus on platform design, reuse and knowledge-management.
- Defines system interfaces and performs aircraft and HW/SW integration testing to those interfaces.
Leadership:
- Performs the full life-cycle systems development tasks with minimal amount of supervision and direction from the engineering manager
- Mentors and train junior engineers to improve their creativity, thoroughness, and technical savvy.
Basic Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Sciencewith at least 10 years of experience in the Aerospace Industry.
- Broad based system design and development background (electronics, software, avionics) with strong experience in system design and architecting considering commercial aircraft certification requirements.
- FAA/EASA certification and audit experience with a solid understanding of how FHA, SSAs, Fault Trees, Certification Test Plans, Common-Mode Analyses, and other documents required for aircraft certification are constructed preferably providing input to these docs.
- System level requirements definition experience taking into account SAE ARP 4754, Fault Tree/System Safety Assessments, FAA/EASA regulations.

- Experience with system modeling to support hardware/software partitioning, trade studies, overall design decisions, and to predict total system performance.

- Complete development life-cycle experience: requirements, design, development, integration, and qualification tested to the requirements of DO-178B.
