Qualifications
RS&H seeks an early-career civil engineer to join our San Antonio aviation team. This is your chance to build a strong foundation in airport design working on real projects from day one while learning from experienced engineers who are invested in your growth.
What You'll Work On
You'll use AutoCAD daily to design critical airport infrastructure across the country runways, taxiways, aprons, pavement systems, stormwater management, and utilities. Current projects include runway improvements, terminal area developments, and apron expansions at airports throughout Texas and beyond.
Your Day-to-Day
Design & Learn
- Create construction plans and geometric designs using AutoCAD and other design platforms
- Work on airfield pavement design (asphalt and concrete)
- Design stormwater and utility infrastructure for aviation facilities
- Learn FAA standards and federal/state regulations
- Collaborate with senior engineers who will mentor you through complex challenges
- Participate in quality control reviews and learn RS&H's design standards
Connect & Grow
- Coordinate with airports, airlines, FAA, and construction teams
- Gain real-world understanding of how your designs get built
- Build relationships across the aviation industry
- Occasional travel (<15%) to visit project sites and meet with clients
What We're Looking For
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited university
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Critical thinking skills and willingness to ask questions when you don't understand
- Team-oriented mindset you thrive in collaborative environments
- Eagerness to learn new software platforms like AutoCAD and Civil 3D
Strongly Preferred
- EIT/EI certification or commitment to complete within 6 months of hire
- Coursework or internship experience in transportation, geotechnical, or civil infrastructure
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar design software
