The Project Engineer must be a highly-motivated and self-driven team player that has the ability to perform in a dynamic prototyping environment. The Project Engineer is responsible for all technical (software, mechanical, and electrical) oversight required for the design, development, and test of full flight simulators. The candidate will have a proven history of leading and managing teams of multi-disciplined engineers through the successful completion of product delivery. The candidate will have experience collaborating with engineers, group leads, operations, customers and program managers to deliver high quality products that meet and exceed project requirements.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate all technical activities for the project from initialization through close-out
  2. Ensure project goals are met safely, in compliance, and within quality requirements and on time delivery
  3. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates assigned engineering work; monitors work for compliance to applicable codes, regulations, accepted engineering practices, and standards; ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and all other project participants.
  4. Responsible for leading all Hardware Software Integration efforts
  5. Provide technical and administrative direction and leadership to Electrical, Mechanical, and Software Engineers
  6. Review and provide decisions on technical specifications, designs, test plans, and milestone goals
  7. Coordinate with the customer, technical interface, and engineering to define specific requirements that may affect training equipment design efforts
  8. Coordinate and support status meetings and design reviews and oversee the approval process for all project change requests
  9. Present to client audiences and/or professional peers
  10. Create and maintain a Configuration Management Plan and an RTM/RTVM throughout project lifecycle.
  11. Technical presentations: SRR, PDR, CDR
  12. Determine project responsibilities by:
    1. identifying project phases and elements
    2. assigning personnel to phases and elements
    3. generating input for technical scope requirements in proposals and reviewing bids from contractors
  13. Determine project specifications by:
    1. studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards
    2. completing technical studies
    3. preparing cost estimates
    4. preparing system level designs
  14. Assist the Program Manager with the following:
    1. Project monthly financial reporting variance analysis (root cause and corrective actions).
    2. Technical inputs to Bids and proposals
    3. Functional Engineering schedule inputs
    4. Identification of Technical Risks and Mitigation Plans.
  15. This role is contingent upon award of a US government contract to the Company.

Qualifications - External

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in engineering
  • Minimum 6 or more years of related experience required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of flight simulator industry certifications and standards
  • Experience working with customers and product managers to identify business needs and translate into technical requirements
  • Experience leading and managing engineering teams is preferred
  • Experience with simulator design and development is preferred
  • Creative problem-solver focused on driving change and continuous improvement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Travel required (up to 25%)
  • Eligible for USG Secret Clearance
  • U.S. Citizen
