Description
Med-Trans Corporation seeks a Helicopter Pilot to support Emergency Services air medical missions. In this role, you will safely operate rotor-wing aircraft for time-critical patient transports, executing VFR/IFR flights in diverse environments. You will conduct thorough preflight planning, weather and risk assessments, and ensure strict compliance with FAA and Med-Trans safety standards. Pilots work closely with clinical and communications teams, supporting rapid response, precise navigation, and effective crew coordination to deliver high-quality, compassionate patient care. Conduct comprehensive preflight, in-flight, and postflight inspections and documentation
Perform flight planning, including weather, route, fuel, performance, and risk assessments
Maintain strict compliance with FAA regulations, company operations manuals, and safety protocols
Coordinate closely with medical crew, communications center, and ground EMS/hospital teams
Execute safe landings and departures in unimproved or confined areas, day and night, often using NVG
Participate in safety programs, SIM/LOFT training, and recurrent check rides
Maintain accurate flight, duty, and maintenance discrepancy logs
Support quality, safety, and performance-improvement initiatives within the emergency services program
Represent Med-Trans professionally with partner hospitals, EMS agencies, and the public
Helicopter flight operations (VFR/IFR)
Advanced aeronautical decision-making (ADM) and risk management
Helicopter performance and weight-and-balance calculations
Night and NVG operations
Low-level and confined-area operations
Use of aviation navigation systems (GPS, FMS, moving map)
Aviation weather analysis and flight planning
Radio communication with ATC, EMS, and hospital networks
Crew Resource Management (CRM) in HEMS environment
Emergency and abnormal procedures in rotor-wing aircraft

FAA Commercial Rotorcraft-Helicopter Certificate
FAA Instrument Rating – Helicopter
Current Class II (or higher) FAA Medical Certificate
Minimum required rotor-wing flight hours (e.g., 1500+ preferred)
Air medical/HEMS flight experience
NVG (Night Vision Goggle) qualification or eligibility
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Ability to pass company, FAA, and DOT background/drug screens
